Arielle's Story of Hope

At age 14, a prescribed opiate was the onset of my addiction.

It wasn’t long before opiates and Xanax became daily essentials. However, I didn’t think it was a problem because I was a great mother to my daughters and almost always had a job.

During the summer of 2018, I began dating a man who held a pipe to my lips and said, "Try this." I knew I should have told him "No," but instead, I inhaled. Just like that, I was hooked on Crack Cocaine. My addiction, which I believed was "under control," suddenly became wildly out of control.

Within weeks, I lost my job and home, and my daughters were taken from me. My downward spiral led to an abusive relationship, heroin use, a criminal charge, and a near-fatal overdose in 2019.

I could not live like this anymore.

In April 2020, I found Our Hope Association.

This wasn't just treatment; it was my salvation.

While I was using, I wasn't living; I just existed. Our Hope showed me how to live again. I learned how to love myself and love my life. I learned to take one day at a time. I learned how to begin rebuilding my relationships. I learned how to be a mother again to my daughters.

Our Hope has changed my life forever.

Today, I'm a better mother, a more loving daughter, and an overall better person. My youngest daughter returned to my care earlier this year, and we have a new place we call home.

I am now 3 ½ years clean and sober! My time in recovery has given me the opportunity to become a proud member of the Our Hope staff! Joining the team at Our Hope has allowed me to share my journey to uplift others. I’m extremely passionate about sharing my experience, strength, and hope as I help other women on their recovery journeys. Our Hope's role in the community is monumental, reshaping lives and offering renewed hope to every soul that steps through its doors.

Our Hope Association is a vital part of our community and continues to significantly impact the lives of those who enter this program! - Arielle, Our Hope 2018 Graduate

Has addiction affected you or a loved one, like it has mine? Every day, I see how it hurts relationships, families, and our community. Over 65% of adults say themselves or a family member has delt with addiction.

People need treatment now more than ever, but available resources continue to decline.

In Michigan, 650,000 people suffer from substance use disorder. Yet only 28% get help. Many cannot get the care they need due to the high cost.

For these women, each day without treatment raises the risk of serious harm or, even worse, death due to addiction.

I am on a mission to open new services to save these women.

Our Hope will offer the only women’s substance use program in West Michigan with a complete continuum of care. The new facility will provide the only handicap-accessible program in the community and help meet the increasing demand in our community for treatment services.

This project is not possible without the Rising Through Recovery Capital Campaign. I am so grateful for your generous support towards the campaign. Your contribution helped us raise $2.6 million of our $3 million goal. We anticipate reaching our goal by the end of the year.

The new services cannot run without a facility to operate. The new services also cannot run without support. This next year, Our Hope will work to open each new service, including withdrawal management, intensive outpatient, outpatient, and sober living. Once all programs are at full capacity, they will support themselves. It will take time to reach this sustainability. And it will take your support.

With that said, I ask you to consider making a special gift to Our Hope this giving season. Your donation will help us offer these new services in our new facility, giving more women a chance to heal. Every dollar you give supports women at Our Hope and saves even more lives from addiction, like Arielle.

Will you help make treatment more accessible?

Will you join my mission to open new services to save these women?

They are counting on us. Can we count on you?

Without your support, we cannot provide healing to women with addiction. Will you give a special holiday gift to support these crucial new services?

Make your gift online TODAY and save even more lives. They just cannot wait for tomorrow.

Gratefully,
